Global petition against genocide in the DRC launched from the USA

A wave of global mobilization is rising from the United States in support of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Travis Johnson, an American pastor and influential member of the White House Faith Office, has officially announced — via his X account — the launch of a worldwide petition against the genocide that has ravaged the DRC for the past three decades.

The ambitious and urgent initiative seeks to gather one million signatures around three clear goals:

  1. Secure international recognition of the Congolese genocide, which has claimed an estimated 10 million lives over the last 30 years of relentless conflict in the country’s eastern region.
  2. Demand justice and reparations for the victims and their families.
  3. End the genocide once and for all, paving the way for lasting peace in the DRC.

This campaign is also a direct outcome of the religious diplomacy spearheaded by President Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo and masterfully led by his Special Envoy, Ambassador-at-Large Antoine Ghonda Mangalibi. Through persistent engagement with faith leaders, religious influencers, and U.S. policymakers, their advocacy is now echoing on a global scale.

“The world can no longer look away,” Travis Johnson declares in a video message that is rapidly circulating on social media. “Every signature is a step toward truth, justice, and peace.”

The call is going out to the Congolese diaspora, NGOs, churches, and all those with a conscience: sign and share this petition so that Congo’s cry for justice reaches the highest decision-making bodies worldwide.

For a tragedy long overshadowed by geopolitical priorities, this international mobilization could mark a turning point. The Congo is no longer crying alone — the believing and committed America is now joining its fight.
